ITINERARY:
1300H - Pick up at hotel.
-1.Tour originates at the 58-hectare Rizal Park, named after Jose Rizal, national hero of the Philippines.
-2.Drive to the north to see the Walled City -Intramuros, comprised of European buildings and churches that have been replicated in different parts of the archipelago. It had been one of the world's best preserved medieval cities. Here, dungeons and old churches share space with art galleries, theaters and Nature Park.
-3.Marking its entrance at the northwestern tip is Fort Santiago, one of the oldest fortifications of Intramuros. Built over 150 years through Filipino forced labor, it now houses a lush park with flowering trees, homing pigeons, and rides aboard horse-drawn carriages.
-4. At the center of Intramuros is the grand Manila Cathedral, the seat of the Catholic Archdiocese of Manila, with its detailed stone carvings, stained glass mosaics and rose windows.
-5. Then there is San Agustin Church, the oldest stone church in Metro Manila and one of the four Philippine Baroque Churches inscribed in UNESCO's World Heritage List.
-6.Hop by at Casa Manila Museum near Manila Cathedral. It is a re-creation of a 19th-century Spanish patrician,s three-story domicile. Enjoy the beautiful carriage entrance, the landscaped near courtyard, and the spacious, grand stairway seen only in movies.
-7. Lunch at Local Restaurant inside Intramuros.
-8. Proceed to Makati and visit the Ayala Museum. It features a one-of-a-kind boat gallery showcasing miniatures of some of the watercrafts that contributed to the development of Philippine maritime trade and colonial economy. Archaeological and ethnographic objects from the country's northern and southern cultural communities complement the historical collection. The fine arts collection features important works by three painters considered pioneers in Philippine art--Juan Luna (1857-1899), Fernando Amorsolo (1882-1972), and Fernando Zobel (1924-1984). Genre paintings from the 19th century Philippines are represented. This period reflect some of Europe's liberal ideas that gave rise to secular themes in Philippine art and popularized new modes of expressions.
-Return to Hotel.
