C.F. Sharp Shipping Agencies Singapore is, after the Manila Headquarters, the largest operational office of the group, engaged in all aspects of shipping agency and associated activities.

Opened shortly after Chester F. Sharp and Don Antonio Rocha founded the original business, the Singapore office, apart from the Pacific war years, has continually operated with an imposing structure of major and some smaller principals.

ISO 9002
When the International Standards on Quality and Excellence was introduced, C.F. Sharp Singapore was the first purely Shipping Agency applicant to be scrutinised by the Premier Singapore Quality Institute, the PSB (Productivity Board of Singapore – the Quasi Government Investigative Auditors). ISO 9002 certification was achieved on this first surveillance.

Keeping abreast of Quality Transition, in March 2003, the Agency successfully attained accreditation to ISO 9001 : 2000 status.

HANDLING OF VESSELS
The main function of the organization continues to be in the area of handling the needs, through Agency professionalism, of vessels calling into or transiting Singapore. These tasks cover both the multifarious types of vessels afloat and the diverse reasons for their presence in, or passing the Republic.

Apart from sub-contracting specialist survey, supply and repair work, every aspect is handled “in-house”. This ensures complete control of activities required plus economical service fees and rates being able to be offered.

FREIGHT HANDLING, CUSTOMS CLEARANCE and STORAGE:
These aspects of shipping work is handled by the completely owned, but autonomously run company COMMONWEALTH FREIGHT SERVICES PTE LTD. (Another C.F.S.) This firm, with its own large warehouse and transport facilities, can handle any stores, parts or bonded good sent to Singapore by air or sea freight for any vessel being handled by our own, or any other shipping agency.

With complete operational control of owned road transport and our bonded warehouse, C.F.S. can ensure avoidance of Port demurrage and excessive storage rental costs.

TRAVEL
The ever possible necessity of handling human resource requirements arising from crew handling in members joining or leaving their ships, is also catered for within the C.F. Sharp Singapore Shipping Agency activity umbrella. SHARP TRAVEL SERVICE PTE LTD – (STS), similar to Commonwealth Freight Services Pte Ltd, is a completely owned, but autonomously run travel organization with a large portfolio of Government, private section business travellers and private clientele.

Directly linked by the Abacus systems to all major airlines using Changi Airport, S.T.S. are in a position to offer extremely competitive rates worldwide. Probably more important from a shipping principals viewpoint is the ability to ensure instant issuance of tickets to any seafarers or superintendents negating expensive delays whilst P.T.A’s (Prepaid Tickets Advice) are awaited from home bases, or are not immediately available from carriers offices who do not remain open on a 7/24 basis.
